Swimwear care is very similar to lingerie care, but keep in mind that swimwear is more likely to come in contact with various chemicals such as chlorine. So you should know a few tips to keep your swimwear in perfect condition.
After swimming, always rinse your bathing suit with cool water. It is best to wash it by hand using mild detergents. Do not leave the wet swimsuit wrapped in a towel and do not dry it in a tumble dryer. Dry it with a towel or other soft cloth instead and leave to dry at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. However, if you decide go for a machine wash, use a washing bag to prevent the clasps from damaging the fabric. It is not recommended to use spinning or softeners, especially for elastane containing items.
Elastane is most commonly used for supplementing other fabrics and it is produced chemically. It is used in the fabrics of hosiery, lingerie, swimwear and outerwear. Its special feature is elasticity, which gives the clothes several advantages. Elastane can stretch up to 500% and quickly restore its original shape. However, this feature is damaged by sweat which reduces the stretching properties, so if you wish your elastane containing items to stay as new for longer, do not wait too long with washing them. Elastane fabrics generally do not crease and are easy to maintain.
Check the label before washing as the care may be depending on the other fibers in the fabric. In most cases, you can wash such fabrics either by hand or use a washing machine.
